Dr. Vladimer Papava is a Senior Fellow at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies, a Senior Associate Fellow of the Joint Center formed by the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute (Johns Hopkins University-SAIS) and the Silk Road Studies Program (Uppsala University), and a Member of the Parliament (Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia). He was a Minister of Economy of the Republic of Georgia (1994-2000); in 2005-2006 he was a Fulbright Fellow at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute, The Nitze SchoolSAIS, Johns Hopkins University (Washington, D.C.).

He is the author of nearly 200 publications, including works on the theoretical and applied studies post-Communist economies and economic development of the South Caucasus countries.
